Nathan doesn't say much. He sure has a lot on his mind, though. At school, Nathan quietly observes the ways his peers communicate. Even when they're not talking, they're expressing themselves in all sorts of ways! By witnessing the beauty of communication diversity, Nathan learns and shows his classmates the essential lesson: Not only does everyone have something to say, but seeking to understand one another can be the greatest bridge to friendship and belonging. ***************************************************************

SPECIAL STORY TIME with Cate Berry

Interabang Books will host author Cate Berry in-store for a special story time on Saturday, August 3rd with her book, Scorch, Hedgehog of Doom.

ABOUT SCORCH< HEDGEHOG OF DOOM

Scorch the hedgehog is determined to be ferocious. The doomsy-est, most menacing class pet ever known. She’s not just Scorch, she’s… Scorch, Hedgehog of Doom! There’s just one problem—Scorch is kind of adorable. So adorable, in fact, that it’s all anyone ever notices. With each swirl of her cloak, each sharp claw raised high, each baring of her chilling chompers, the kids of room 402 don’t fall back in fear or quiver with tears. Instead, they cry, “Awww! Adorable!” Tired of being seen as just one thing, Scorch flies into action, determined to show how truly terrifying she can be. But when her flipping, training, and high-flying efforts land her in true danger—the home of the classroom’s other scaled, slithering, cold-blooded animal occupant—Scorch must harness and embrace all the parts of her unique self. Put to the ultimate test, she finds power in being ferociously adorable and killer cute.

Readers will fall for this ferociously “awww”-inspiring story starring a beloved class pet about self-image, identity, and finding harmony among the many different, sometimes contradictory pieces of ourselves.

SPECIAL STORY TIME with Nancy Churnin

Interabang Books will host author Nancy Churnin in-store for a Special Story Time on Saturday, July 13th with her book, Rainbow Allies: The True Story of Kids Who Stood Against Hate.

ABOUT RAINBOW ALLIES

A true story of allyship and standing up to anti-LGBTQ hate. When a lesbian couple comes home one day to find their Pride flag stolen and their front porch egged, the sense of belonging they had felt in their community is threatened. Are they safe in their house? The support they need comes from an unexpected place--the neighborhood's children. Together, the local kids create a plan to show Cari and Lauri just how valued they are in the community. Based on real-life events, Rainbow Allies tells the story of how a Massachusetts neighborhood rallied together around Cari and Lauri--and their dogs, Twink and Scout--to make them feel welcomed and loved again after an act of hate.

Written by multi-award-winning author Nancy Churnin, this book is an inspiring introduction to allyship for young readers and changemakers.
